The Tompkins Center Historical Society Freedom Festival and Steam is our largest event of the year and is a celebration of our community! Many events will be taking place such as:

Working Steam Engines, Museum Tours, Tractor Pulls, Blacksmith, Loom Weaving Displays, Car Show, Mini Horse Pull,  Flea Market, Silent Auction, Food Vendors, and so much more!

Everyone is welcome to join us for a potluck dinner and a game of Euchre. This relaxed and fun atmosphere is family friendly, and singles are more than welcome. Earn prizes with loner hands. Win the Jackpot by scoring the most points of the evening. Entry is $2.50 (per person) with $2 going into the Jackpot. Bring food, bring (non-alcoholic) drinks, and bring yourselves!

The Tompkins Historical Society is having a Plant Sale along side with the Jackson County Museum Day on May 11, 2024.  Located at the Stewart Farm Museum in Tompkins (10138 Tompkins Road, Rives Junction MI 49277).  Order Forms are now available HERE (available in March 2024, and at the Tompkins Historical Meeting (3/18/24 and 4/15/24), and the Friday Night Dinner May 3rd, 2024. Limited supplies will be on hand May 11th, its recommended to pre-order.  Please have your order forms and money in by 5/3/2024.

Holiday Open House and Veterans Tree Lighting

The Holiday Open House at the Stewart Farm 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Hot chocolate and cookies in the school house. Take a tour of the Stewart Farm with our curator. 10138 Tompkins Road Rives Jct. MI 49277. Then join us at 6:00pm at the corner of M-50 and Woodard Road to sing Christmas carols, and the festivities of the Veteran's Christmas Tree Lighting to celebrate the beginning of the Holiday Season. The tree is decorated with the names of Veterans from our area. Please email a any names that you would like to have on the tree. Veterans are either from current service or from any military situation.

Tractor Pulls 2024

Tractor Pulls will take place at Tompkins Center the second and fourth Saturday of the month, starting May through October, 2024. 


Registration begins at 9:00 am and the pulls start at 10:00 am.  Concession available.
